Our Story

35 years of faith, family, and calling in Newark.

The Great Commission Ministry Church was founded in 1991 by the late Bishop Emmanes Doxy and Pastor Kettely Doxy.
Bishop Emmanes Doxy and Pastor Kettely Doxy, founders of The Great Commission Ministry Church

Our story begins with Bishop Emmanes Doxy, who gave his life to Christ at age fifteen in Haiti and studied with Bible schools and churches there. After arriving in the United States in 1977, he spent four years in Bible study with the Church of God, then about five years helping plant churches across Northern New Jersey.

In 1991, Bishop Doxy and Pastor Kettely Doxy founded The Great Commission Ministry Church with a mission to proclaim deliverance, healing, liberty, and power through Jesus Christ. Alongside the church, they established a community learning center offering ESL, basic reading and writing, and counseling to Newark families.

Following Bishop Doxy's passing, Pastor Kettely Doxy continues to lead the ministry they built together. In 2026, we celebrate 35 years of faith, service, and community in Newark.

In Honor

With gratitude for our founders

The late Bishop Emmanes Doxy

Founder · Went home to be with the Lord in 2022

Bishop Emmanes Doxy began his walk with Christ at the age of fifteen, one year after his mother suffered a tragic accident. He joined a non-denominational congregation in Haiti and studied with several Bible schools and churches there.

After coming to the United States in 1977, he continued to grow in the Lord. He became a member of the Church of God, where he studied the Bible for four years and earned a diploma of accomplishment. He then spent about five years helping plant several churches across Northern New Jersey.

In 1991 he founded The Great Commission Ministry, a church with a mission to proclaim deliverance, healing, liberty, and power through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He also founded a community learning center offering ESL, basic reading and writing, drug education, counseling, and prevention.

Bishop Doxy went home to be with the Lord in 2022. We remember him with love and thanksgiving, and his legacy lives on in the church family he built.

Pastor Kettely Doxy

Senior Pastor

Pastor Kettely Doxy came to know the Lord at a young age and grew into a leader in the church from her teenage years. Today she shepherds The Great Commission Ministry Church with a special heart for young people.

As an educator, mentor, confidante, minister, and friend, she believes in leading by example. Much of her ministry happens out of sight: the tap on the shoulder and the personal counseling that help young people remember where they came from and grow into responsible adults.

Her calling to teach was clear early in life, and she connects with people of every age and background, choosing understanding over simply instructing.

"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name." Psalm 103:1, the verse that represents all she is

Declaration of Faith

What we believe.

  1. 1.In one God eternally existing in three persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  2. 2.That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Spirit.
  3. 3.That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. He ascended to Heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.
  4. 4.In the verbal inspiration of the Bible.
  5. 5.That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, and that repentance is commanded of God for all and is necessary for the forgiveness of sins.
  6. 6.That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are received by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.
  7. 7.In sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Jesus Christ, through the Word, and by the Holy Spirit.
  8. 8.That holiness is God's standard of living for His people.
  9. 9.In the baptism with the Holy Spirit subsequent to a clean heart.
  10. 10.In water baptism by immersion, and that all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
  11. 11.In the second coming of Jesus Christ, to reign forever.
  12. 12.That divine healing is provided for all in the atonement.
  13. 13.In the Lord's Supper and the washing of the saints' feet.
  14. 14.In the bodily resurrection: eternal life for the righteous and eternal punishment for the wicked.
